JoJo Siwa came out in January 2021. She received a lot of love, and it felt like a landmark moment. Siwa’s brand is wholesome, family-friendly, bubbly, kid-friendly entertainment, and to see her come out as a teenager and be accepted was so important for so many LGBTQ+ kids and their families. Siwa really has enjoyed widespread support from most channels… except Nickelodeon, the channel which “made her famous.” Nickelodeon played games last year, blocking Siwa from performing certain songs on her (successful) tour.

When I think of hot guys, I usually don’t think of Josh Duhamel even though, physically speaking, he’s kind of easy on the eyes in a douchey, leading-man-of-terrible-romcoms sort of way. He really has functioned as the “it” boy of such movies over the past few years (with a requisite Nicholas Sparks movie, Safe Haven, as a crowning achievement), even though, ironically, he was the best part of The Romantics opposite Katie Holmes.

We’ve been covering a lot of Kat-face Kardashian lately, and ignoring the other Kardashian/Jenner ladies. To be fair, I hate even discussing the Jenner girls because they’re so young and I dislike how they’re being pushed into the public sphere. But Kourtney and Khloe have purposefully taken more of a backseat lately, I think because of Kim’s wedding and her subsequent post-nuptial catastrophe (wherein Kim and Kris Humphries realize that they don’t even like each other).

I feel like there are many celebrities, models and actresses who could all provide quality content through videos, advice, newsletters, blogs, etc. It’s just that too few of those women really want to be honest or break the fourth wall and actually have a conversation with fans, or show what their lives are really like. I would have considered Naomi Campbell one of those people who preferred to just keep everyone at a distance, wanting to maintain her perfect-diva image.

It seems like the Hargreaves siblings will be getting another chance to save the world. On April 2nd, Netflix announced that it has renewed The Umbrella Academy for a second season and that Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, and Justin H. Min are all set to reprise their roles. The first season focused on the Hargreaves siblings who were all born on the same day to different mothers.

Rachel Hollis is a self help author, influencer and motivational speaker. Several of her books, including Girl, Wash Your Face and Girl, Stop Apologizing, are bestsellers. I tried to read Girl, Stop Apologizing and found it preachy and self obsessed without being interesting or useful. Rachel has a podcast all about becoming your best self or something. My physical therapist recommended it, and I’ve never listened to it. While researching for this story, I found an article in Buzzfeed that summed up my issues with Rachel’s book and her branding.
