Pittsburgh Rapper Jimmy Wopo Gunned Down At 21

PITTSBURGH, PA (CelebrityAccess) – Pittsburgh rapper Jimmy Wopo was killed in a drive-by shooting Monday evening in the city’s Hill District. He was 21.

The shooting came mere hours after 20-year-old fellow rapper XXXTentacion was also shot and killed in a separate incident outside of Riva Motorsports in Deerfield Beach, Florida.

Wopo’s manager Taylor Maglin confirmed the rapper’s death in a Facebook post.

Born Travon Smart, Wopo began releasing a steady string of singles in 2015 followed by mixtapes including 2016’s Woponese and 2017’s Back Against the Wall. He also recently signed a management deal with Grammy-nominated producer, Sledgren, who along with other members of the rap community took to Twitter to express their disbelief and sadness over having lost yet another rising star to senseless gun violence.

Sled tweeted out, “We just signed him I can’t stop crying,” while Pusha T and Juicy J tweeted “Damn R.I.P. #JimmyWopo” and “R.I.P. Jimmy Wopo” / “Damn mane this sh*t crazy”.
