Paul Scofield was an English actor. He won the Academy Award for Best Actor for A Man for All Seasons (1966).

Paul is the son of Mary and Edward Harry Scofield. His father was a headmaster of the Hurstpierpoint Church of England School, and his mother was a Roman Catholic. Paul was baptized Catholic. He expressed a “lack of direction in spiritual matters,” and felt divided between his parents’ faiths growing up.

He was married to actress Joy Mary Parker, until his death, with whom he had two children.

Paul’s maternal granfather was John Wild (the son of Robert Wild and Mary Ann Tigh).

Paul’s maternal grandmother was Elizabeth Mathilde Roberts (the daughter of Alexander Roberts and Elizabeth Yates).
